Inside Ayrton’s Classical lighting fixtures with Mark Stavtsev

1
The classical range of Ayrton fixtures forms the backbone of countless productions — from intimate theatre pieces to stadium-scale shows. Designed for versatility, these luminaires address core stage lighting tasks with exceptional precision and quality. Unlike the laser series, which is focused on high-impact beam effects and long-throw applications, the classical line offers a well-balanced toolkit of color, gobo, framing, and beam shaping features — all while maintaining flexibility and reliability.

Lighting designer and programmer Mark Stavtsev highlights four go-to models in this lineup: Diablo, Khamsin, Bora, and Huracán LT.

Diablo — Compact and Capable

"This is my go-to when I need flexibility in a compact footprint. It’s lightweight and multifunctional, yet doesn’t compromise on features — CMY, framing, gobo, animation. Great for theatre, corporate shows, and broadcast."
— Mark Stavtsev

Weighing only 21.8 kg, Diablo delivers up to 19,000 lumens with a 7.5:1 zoom ratio (7°–53°). Its compact size and low-noise mode make it suitable for acoustically sensitive venues. Integrated framing and full feature set make it ideal for small to mid-scale productions.

Khamsin — A Workhorse Spot for Stage and Touring

"Khamsin is my standard spot. It's balanced, durable, and fits in everywhere — stage, touring, TV. If I need a primary tool, this is it."

Powered by a 750 W LED engine, Khamsin outputs up to 40,000 lumens. It includes dual gobo wheels, full CMY+CTO color mixing, framing shutters, animation wheel, prisms, and frosts. With a zoom range of 7°–58° (8:1), it performs equally well in beam projection or wash applications.

Bora — A Wash with Spot Capabilities

"Bora is a strong wash fixture that maintains even color and a soft field. The bonus? It has framing and gobos — so it can act like a spot too. Great for scenic backlight or clean front washes. We use the Bora S version at Dubai Opera for its well-rounded performance."

Bora delivers up to 40,000 lumens (S version) and features a wide zoom range (8°–64°). Ideal for theatre, runway, broadcast, and concerts. The TC version offers CRI > 90 for projects requiring high color accuracy.

Huracán LT — Precision Long-Throw Profile for Arenas and Open-Air

"Huracán is my go-to when I need precision over distance. It performs well at 40–50 meters, with clean, focused output — ideal for arenas, large venues, or architectural applications."

Huracán LT is Ayrton’s first Long Throw (LT) LED profile. It features a 225 mm front lens (7 kg) and a 15:1 zoom system (3.5°–53°). Designed to deliver consistent performance over medium-to-long distances, it’s a powerhouse for demanding environments.

The Ayrton classical series provides trusted, professional-grade tools for lighting designers who prioritize control, flexibility, and image precision.

Diablo – mobile, lightweight all-rounder
Khamsin – reliable spot for stage, touring, and broadcast
Bora – hybrid wash with gobo and framing
Huracán LT – powerful long-throw profile with razor-sharp optics

"If the project demands precision over special FX — no pixel beams or lasers — this is the line I trust. It’s about consistency, control, and confidence in the result," says Mark Stavtsev.
